About Beth Emet Synagogue
Beth Emet The Free Synagogue is a diverse, multi-generational Reform Jewish community with a dynamic approach to Judaism. The congregation is spiritually vibrant, socially conscious, intellectually challenging, deeply caring and firmly rooted in Jewish traditions and values. They are nationally known for our commitment to social action and inclusion.
Beth Emet was founded 70 years ago, and now has over 750 member households. About half of their members live in Evanston, and the remaining members live in Wilmette, Skokie, Morton Grove, and in other suburbs and northern neighborhoods of Chicago. At Beth Emet, you become part of a community comprised of clergy, staff, and congregants who enrich each other’s lives with greater meaning.
Beth Emet has a vibrant and active program for young families including monthly Tot Shabbat, Schmoozica (Shabbat singing, play and socializing), holiday programs and family activities focused on social justice. Beth Emet and JCC Chicago are partners in creating a seamless and enriching experience for children and families attending JCC Chicago’s Early Childhood Program.
Beth Emet offers a first-year membership of $1,200, which offers new members an affordable opportunity in which to get to know the congregation. Beth Emet is committed to Jewish continuity and providing a home for every person who wants to become a member, regardless of their financial situation.
